You don’t need a perfectly clean house, a Pinterest nursery, or a calm baby.

Yes — really.

Parents often feel stressed before newborn photos because they think everything needs to be perfect. It doesn’t.

Here is exactly what you should do before your session:

1. Feed Baby Right Before the Session

A full baby = a sleepy baby.

Try to keep your baby awake for 45-60 minutes before the session and feed right before I begin posing. This helps your baby fall into a deep sleep.

2. Warm the Room

Newborns are happiest when warm.

I will guide you to raise the room temperature slightly before the session so your baby stays comfortable during wrapped and posed images.

3. What Parents Should Wear

Keep it simple and neutral:

  • white
  • cream
  • beige
  • soft pastels

Avoid:

  • bright colors
  • logos
  • busy patterns

Simple clothing keeps the focus on your baby and creates timeless images.

4. Do I Need Props?

No.

I bring:

  • wraps
  • headbands
  • blankets
  • posing materials

You only need:

  • diapers
  • wipes
  • pacifier (even if baby rarely uses one)

5. Relax — I Expect Mess

Babies will cry.

They will need to feed.

They might pee during the session.

This is completely normal and expected. Newborn sessions are slow and baby-led.

Your only job is to sit, rest, and enjoy the moment.

If your baby is arriving soon, it is best to reserve your due date early so we can plan your session comfortably.
